A note from Manchester.....

Well, I have come to the end of my second week at home and it has been nice and relaxing. It has been good coming back home and rediscovering my home town.

I went with a friend to see the Pride 2007 Parade in town last Saturday and it was amazing. There were some colourful and fantastic participants. What was particularly good about the parade was seeing such great support as the parade went by from the on-lookers. I will try to upload some photos very soon.

Mosaic by Columbia Primary School

Meeting up with an old friend

Met up with an old friend (from my under-grad days) yesterday and reminisced about old and good times. We talked and walked to Columbia Road flower market, unfortunately we arrived just as everybody was packing up for the day!!!! I'll have to return very soon.

We came across a mosaic created by the children of Columbia Road primary school with help from Oxford House Community Arts Work shop, which covers the wall of the school.

After our long walk to Columbus Road from Shoreditch, we ended our meet up with a cup of coffee at a tradtional looking coffee shop, which had a good seletion of coffees and friendly staff.....

Battersea Power Station

Yesterday, I walked all the way from Leicester Square to Chelsea Bridge, all because I wanted to take a picture of Battersea Power Station at night. And here it is, if you look closely you will be able to see a train shooting along.

Furnivall Gardens and Thames Path

Today, I went for a walk in the Furnivall Gardens and along the Thames Path - as part of my quest to capture a photo for each day of my holidays. I was again blessed with fantastic weather. If you look closely at the photo, you will be able to see the Hammersmith bridge. I made the mistake of not buying any lunch before I arrived at the gardens, so I didn't spend much time to enjoy the scenary. I will definately be returning to the gardens and enjoy this part of the Thames path.

After being in London for two years, I finally made it to Brighton today and what a fantastic day it was to visit. The weather was perfect and the beach was packed with people making the most of the British summer!

Carnival of Chariots at Trafalgar Square

Devotees believe that the honour of hauling the giant chariot bearing Lord Jagannatha, or Krishna, Lord of the Universe, confers the privilege of serving him eternally in the spiritual world at the end of this life.

The festival has been celebrated in London since 1969, growing ever year.
